The CSSM Show & Plant Sale was a success with many exceptional specimens exhibited in the show and a profit for our treasury. The big winner is our own society president, Margot Hammer who won 1st place for her Euphorbia collection, which also won Best in Show. She also won the Best in Division I for her Ariocarpus and other blues. Best in Division II was Matt Opel for his outstanding Conophytum minusclum. A very impressive dish garden with an exceptionally beautiful Crassula underplanted with various succulents exhibited by Andy Michaelides was the Best in Division III. There were many blue ribbons awarded to other worthy specimens and so many reds that we ran out of ribbons! Thanks to those members who brought in 20-60 plants to exhibit which is no easy task!
The public was exposed to some very unique cacti and succulents. Congratulations to all who entered no matter how you placed! You successfully educated the public which is our main goal in a show. People went away with an appreciation of the plants we love and we now have more than a dozen new members in CSSM.
A huge thank you to all the volunteers who made this show and sale a success! Even though the hours were long and we were wiped out by the end of the weekend, we had great fun and got to know our fellow members better. If you did not help out this time, we hope you will join us next time.
